It can under lock and key. It can be out of the way, out of sight, its location known only to him. He can be trained in its use. He can practice. Protecting his students and teachers is one of his JOBS.

I am a teacher in a Pre-K to 12th grade Christian school. Our security guard used to be armed, back in the 90's when I first started there. He had to use it one night when someone jumped him. A parent complained and that was the end of our security guards being armed. Unbelievable. Did that mom want the security guard to not be able to defend himself?

My immediate boss (who is not the headmaster) has his CHL and a cool head. But if he were to hear the pop, pop, pop all educators are now scared to death of hearing, I would feel so much safer if he could go to his office, get out his gun and protect us. And he would, too.

But no, can't be done. Parents would be upset. I simply don't get it. Don't they want their babies to be protected?jamac80noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7111597812687655355.post-9276775651785184822012-12-30T11:16:35.176-08:002012-12-30T11:16:35.176-08:00The principal of Sandy Hook Elementary bravely con...The principal of Sandy Hook Elementary bravely confronted the killer at the loss of her own life. I wonder had she had her CHL and a handgun in her office, if she would have been able to confront the killer and lessen his attack. I can't imagine taking the life of another human, but as a mother of 4, should another human threaten to cause any of my children bodily harm, I have no doubt that I would defend them even if that meant death to a mentally ill person. Maybe we should consider allowing school administrators to take CHL classes, and keep handguns in their office. As a gun owner, and one who carries, I am forever vigilant about where my purse is at all time--never away from my body. I trust school administrators to carry in silence, and add one more wall of protection for the precious souls that in are in their charge.
