DOUGLAS KMIEC HAS DONE GREAT HARM TO ALL VOTERS

The article "Abortion and common ground" in the 19 September South Texas Catholic by Douglas W. Kmiec lists several ways to fight the evils of the culture of death but none of those choices should include promotion of candidates for public service that "involve doing evil" and must be opposed.

These choices include elective abortion, euthanasia, physician-assisted suicide, the destruction of embryonic human beings in stem cell research, human cloning, and same sex ‘marriage’.

Doug Kmiec has served in many public governmental positions, and presently is professor of constitutional law at Pepperdine Law School and has been a nationally well known pro-life advocate, but now supports Barack Obamma and endorsed him for president as a "natural" for the Catholic vote: "Today I endorse Barack Obamma for president of the United States. I believe him to be a person of integrity, intelligence, and genuine good will. I take him at his word that he wants to move the nation beyond its religious and racial divides and that he wants to return the United States to that company of nations committed to human rights."

Presidential candidate Barack Obama has a 100% voting record to support legalized abortion, has supported infanticide by refusing medical assistance to babies who survive attempted abortion, supported destruction of embryonic human beings in stem cell research, human cloning, supports same sex marriage, and received a 100% pro-abortion approval by National Abortion Rights League.

As president Obama would rescind all pro-life policies of his pro-life predecessors, and would fill all vacancies on the Supreme Court and the federal appeals courts only with candidates committed to the preservation of Roe v. Wade. As president Obama has promised Planned Parenthood that he would sign the "Freedom of Choice Act" that is designed to establish abortion rights even more extreme than those expressed in Roe v. Wade, and would make partial-birth abortion legal again, require taxpayer funding of abortion, and strike down current regulations of abortions, such as parental notice and consent laws.

The Catholic Church has always insisted that "abortion and infanticide are Unspeakable crimes" Pope John Paul II (Evangelium Vitae, 62). "With regard to any law permitting abortion, the Church teaches that it is never licit to obey it, or to take part in a propaganda campaign in favor of such a law, or to vote for it." Pope John Paul II (Evangelium Vitae, 73). Voters who vote for candidates who promise to support, promote and vote for the evil of murder of innocent human beings are in fact accomplices to the murders that result from the candidates they voted for, and should acknowledge the grave evil of voting for such candidates if they want to live the faith they profess.
"Above all, the common outcry which is justly made on behalf of human rights—for example, the right to health, to home, to work, to family, to culture—is false and illusory if the RIGHT TO LIFE, the most basic and fundamental right and the condition of all other personal rights, is not defended with maximum determination." Living the Gospel of Life,
U.S. Bishops 1998.

Kansas Catholic Bishops, and others have made it clear that Catholics "commit moral evil" by voting for a candidate who supports and promotes intrinsic evils of abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem-cell research, human cloning and same sex ‘marriage’, because it is incompatible with Catholic faith.

Cardinal Rigali, Archbishop Burke and Archbishop Chaput, Archbishop Gomez and many other Cardinals and Bishops have publicly stated that Speaker of the House of Congress, Democrat Nancy Pelosi and Democrat Vice President candidate Senator Joe Biden should not receive Communion because they obstinately persist in manifest grave sin of promoting and voting for the abominable sin of legal abortion, same sex marriage and other intrinsic evils. This Catholic law applies to all Catholics who publicly and obstinately persist in promotion of the grave evil of abortion and all killing of innocent human life.

Professor Douglas Kmiec has done great harm to all voters and unretrievable scandal to Catholic voters to believe they can follow his example of betrayal of his faith by supporting a presidential candidate that betrays equal protection of law to all innocent human beings, and is 100% in opposition to basic Catholic and Christian beliefs in the sanctity of every human life. Douglas Kmiec should be treated as other Catholic pro-abortion Catholic politicians and denied the Holy Eucharist, because he has betrayed the unborn children of God in the womb and the basic principle of equality and justice.

Catholic Bishops in the United States have prohibited pro-abortion Catholic politicians from coming on church property for speeches or recognition, and we believe the same standard should apply in all forms of Catholic media to prominent Catholics who support candidates opposing the basic principles of the Catholic faith.
