SOCRATES
A blessed Feast of the Assumption to you!
As Socrates said:: “The unexamined life is not worth living.”
I have been able to do some real research, which demonstrated the out in the open anti-God agenda of Snopes, as well as its not so dedicated to truth liberal agenda.
For some to still dig in and defend this “truth seeking resource,” especially after some of the big lies have been exposed, in the name of academic freedom or open mindedness is nothing other than moral relativism and compromise at best.
Some have said, in other words, that religious principles may be compromised on account of the fact that truth in non-religious arenas is still being discovered in an academic way. No problem there, conditionally speaking of course, since Patristic and Scholastic fathers said as much. So… when the Mikkelsons and Snopes perpetuated the lie of Michael Moore’s anti American film “Farenheit 9/11,” wherein Bush was falsely accused (it is proven to be a maliciously unfounded lie) of sneaking Bin Laden’s family members out of the USA after 9/11, are we supposed to believe that their “facts” and “truths” are truly factual and truthful?
Socrates also told us that the people who remain in error, after the truth is exposed to them, choose to be among the many “walking dead.” They choose the shadows rather than the realities which cast those shadows.
Here are the words of the Cardinal who would, not long after saying these words, become the new Pope, Benedict XVI:
“How many winds of doctrine have we known in recent decades, how many ideological currents, how many ways of thinking. The small boat of the thought of many Christians has often been tossed about by these waves – flung from one extreme to another: from Marxism to liberalism, even to libertinism; from collectivism to radical individualism; from atheism to a vague religious mysticism; from agnosticism to syncretism and so forth. Every day new sects spring up, and what St Paul says about human deception and the trickery that strives to entice people into error (cf. Eph 4: 14) comes true.”Homily of Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, Dean of the College of Cardinals, Mass for the Election of the Supreme Pontiff, St. Peter’s Basilica, 18 April 2005
Once we go down the slippery slope of compromise and rationalization, once we adopt the philosophy of moral relativism, anything can be accepted as good under the umbrellas of an open mindedness which is false and a mock intellectualism which is not based on the source of All Truth, Ultimate Truth Himself, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Happy Feast of the Assumption to you,
Father Patrick [a priest of the Diocese of Corpus Christi]
