The first people to try and understand the earth and not just blindly conciliate her were the Greeks. It was they who developed the scientific method and saw that the world actually operated by physical laws. These laws could be studied and the world understood. The failure of the Greeks was in their incessant internecine warfare that cursed their history with political instability.
It was the Hebrews who first understood Natural Law; that is, that there were things inherent in men—at first they thought only inherent in Hebrews—that endowed them with a dignity and freedom that no political system could take away. This was a gift from their God, and in return He demanded a certain moral behavior. The failure of the Hebrews was their continuous whoring after other gods.
The Romans brought the first political order to the entire Mediterranean world even while adopting Greek culture. Like the Assyrians, Persians and Incas, they were true geniuses at political organization. But unlike these other civilizations the Romans never completely accepted the idea of arbitrary rule by a sovereign—that is, there was an area of a man’s life immune to the dictates of the state, subject only to law. The Romans´ failure was that they developed no mechanism to remove a ruler who ignored this fundamental aspect of Roman law, leaving assassination and military intervention as the only ways to effect political change.
It was Christianity that brought all of these streams together and wrapped them in the great Revelation of God’s incarnation among His creation. It was in Christendom where our ideas of what we once called “the Civilized World” were stitched together. It is no accident that democracy, human rights, capitalism, separation of church and state all emerged from Christianity and not from Islam or Hinduism or Buddhism.
These streams of thought and philosophy are what we call Western Civilization. The technical term would be Judeo-Christian Greco-Roman civilization. Think of them as you like, but there is no denying that they are as well the foundation stones of our American Civilization.
We now have in place throughout the land a ruling elite that has spent a good deal of time dismantling these piece by piece. It finds this heritage distasteful, intolerant, limiting, fanciful and superstitious. It seeks to replace it with what it believes will be an entirely new America, one free of Medieval shibboleths and ancient traditions.
This new America will take its place among the nations of the world, neither better nor worse than any of them. This new America will gratefully submit to the admonishments of other nations who have felt the sting of American power. This new America will gladly turn over its wealth to those nations as a just and fitting retribution for its past actions, its past sins. This new America will happily transform its legal traditions, which go back to the Decalogue, to Magna Carta and to the Constitution, into transnational codes that pay homage to international law. This new America will recognize no particular benefits to being a citizen and will open American citizenship to everyone on earth.
Such are the outlines of this Brave New American World being fashioned by the ruling elites of our nation. There is a word that perfectly describes these elites. That word is barbarous. They are barbarous in the truest sense of the term. They recognize no limitations to their passions, no matter how base or vulgar. In the Godless land they are constructing all will be permissible. They do homage to those gods of old—to the earth no matter her demands; to sex no matter how perverse; to wealth no matter how obtained; to power no matter how wielded.
Whatever was noble about the ancients is to be tossed aside. Whatever was barbarous about them is to be honored and adopted. The Spartans murdered those of their newborn deemed unfit, and our New Barbarians do the same. The Hebrews whored after false gods, and our New Barbarians do the same. The Babylonians bowed down before their Nebuchadnezzars, and our New Barbarians will force us to do the same. The Incas and the Sumerians feared the goddess of the earth, and our New Barbarians will force us to do the same.
These New Barbarians claim to be creators of The New. In fact these creatures are returning America and the world to a state of nature free from liberty and tradition but not from slavery and oppression. It is the world of Plato’s Republic, a nightmare existence composed of a small and amoral ruling elite, a group of soldiers noted for their ferocity in enforcing the laws of the elite, and a massive and anonymous working class of helots whose every thought and deed is monitored and whose every member with a shred of individuality is culled.
There is nothing at all new about this America our elites are creating. There is as well nothing at all new about them. Their mentalities are as ancient as Sargon, as Tiglath-Pileser, as Nimrud. They might wear the fanciest of clothing, attend the toniest of schools and speak in the most mellifluous of tones—but to a man they are barbarians. They are destroyers purely and simply.
And they will keep destroying until they are stopped.
