I am not opposed to food stamps.
People who are truly poor need to be helped to stay alive.
But two things are wrong with our government's food stamp program.
First, any visit to a supermarket checkout line will reveal that there is a lot of abuse in the use of food stamps.
Second, there are too many people in the food stamp program.
Governments, from the time of the Roman Emperors, have used food for the poor as a means of retaining political power.
It would appear that the Obama Administration is doing just that.
It is a scandal that 45 million Americans are now enrolled in the food stamp program.
That is 14% of the population of the United States.
Hopefully the election in November 2012 will initiate a change in this disgraceful situation.
